Do Make Say Think - You, You're A History In Rust

Hay discos de los que se debería escribir utilizando siempre un signo de exclamación. Hay grupos que, a diferencia de algunos de sus paisanos más cercanos, sus discos son una celebración optimista más que un furibundo arrebato de ira. Hechos para disfrutar, no para cuestionar[te]. You, You’re A History In Rust mantiene la constante inventiva de este quinteto canadiense, 3 años después de Winter Hymn, Country Hymn, Secret Hymn. El space rock que les era reconocido ahora cede minutos a una onda más pastoral y reflexiva, lo cual incluye hasta la participación de la banda alt-folk Akron/Family para que participe poniendo voces. Pero esto no impide que su post-rock particular no se manifieste, con guitarras que van en remolinos e instrumentales no-lineales [aun cuando hay temas con una estructura "estándar" verso-coro-verso, como "A With Living", a pesar de sus 9 minutos]. Además de esto, se dan maña para crecer en su arsenal sónico, utilizando instrumentos como marimbas y trompetas, y ritmos que pueden semejar a unos mariachis en ácidos, como a unos momentos jazzeros bien densos [dándole cabal significado a eso de free-form], que sin embargo no restan ese aroma cálido y amigable que te embriaga desde el primer tema. Una alegría potente. Un gran disco. Temas geniales como “You, You Are Awesome” o “In Mind” [y esa verdad absoluta que reza "When you die, you’ll have to leave them behind. You should keep that in mind. When you keep that in mind, you’ll find a love as big as the sky."]. Y una portada que viene siendo la mejor del año. Mientras Godspeed You! Black Emperor y Broken Social Scene ya están prestos a sacar nuevo material, bien podemos soportar la espera con lo nuevo de Do Make Say Think. Algo le deben estar echando al agua en Canadá. ¡¡Qué bestia!!
