Si habÃa algo que siempre buscabas de todos aquellos grupos que escuchabas mientras crecÃas, eran las celebérrimas John Peel Sessions.
Hoy, a casi 10 dÃas de cumplirse 2 años de su muy sentido fallecimiento [paro cardÃaco mientras vacionaba en el Cuzco], se celebra el John Peel Day, en el que se recuerda la importancia gravitante de este famoso DJ británico de Radio 1, en la BBC, cuyo único afán en la música fue la de escuchar “algo que nunca hubiera escuchado antes”: él introdujo a sus oyentes al punk, hip-hop e incluso el reggae y el industrial, con la suficiente personalidad para elegir a The Undertones como su banda favorita por sobre otros “clásicos”.
Amén de programas radiales conmemorativos y similares, se ha editado un disco doble, John Peel- Right Time, Wrong Speed: 1977-1987, salido a la venta hace unos dÃas, y en el cual se incluyen sus asà llamadas canciones favoritas que lanzó a la fama desde su gloriosa cabina.
